Cheese Farm & Txakoli Winery

Small size, big flavor

Idiazabal cheese is a local cheese of small size and a great taste, with denomination of origin, made with raw milk from local breeds of latxa sheep.

We’ll immerse ourselves in the shepherd’s life, learning about their flock, grazing and milking areas. Discover the cheese-making process and indulge in tasting various cheeses, curds, and sweets paired with local cider or water.

The second destination, on the basque coast, the Txakoli winery in a dreamlike landscape.

With these delightful flavors lingering, we’ll make our way to a family-owned Txakoli winery. Txakoli, known as the queen of Getaria in local lore, is a standout product of the Basque country. This incredibly refreshing white wine, lightly effervescent, is simply irresistible.

We’ll enthusiastically explain you the entire winemaking process stepping also on the vineyards and enjoying the amazing views.

Afterwards we will taste the Txakoli ( 3 different types). Topa! (cheers in basque).

After these two experiences we will approach the village of Getaria, where Juan Sebastian Elkano, who circumnavigated around the world in an epic journey in 1522 was from. Let´s celebrate the 500th anniversary!

We will stroll through the medieval cobbled streets, looking at the houses with their wooden balconies and the church of San Salvador, a gothic jewel of the Basque architecture.

After the walk you will be able to buy anchovies, tuna and local products in its small gourmet boutiques and we will return to San Sebastian after a very full day.
